I think most of California’s political community is scratching their heads over the Susan Kennedy COS appointment. Even if you are a liberal, sorry progressive Democrat you have to wonder how it all happened.
We Republicans especially are searching for answers. I have identified a few reasons, thoughts and some options, some rational, some not.
>"It is 99% Maria and 1% desperation," says Probolsky
[Note to media, feel free to use this as long as you attribute to me and Flasreport.org].
-Call me vain for quoting myself, but I think this is the best explanation. It is no secret the insider pull the Governor’s wife has. If Maria trusts someone, and I gather there are few people she trusts, they have a pretty good shot at becoming [fill in high level government job here].
> "Some would suggest it is a brilliant strategy and we should all sit back and watch Kennedy masterfully navigate the halls of the Capitol and wow us with grand legislative packages that yield reform and accomplishment." [I am on a role today, this one would be a great quote too.] But don’t hold your breath.
Arnold is weak, thousands of us who have defended him and propped him up since his run, first CA GOP endorsement, first Special Election, second GOP endorsement, downright stupid appointments to various posts in state governement and his ill-planned recent Special Election, are no longer going to carry his water. I have seen comments likening this appointment to Alice in Wonderland and such commentary as "I’ve already checked out." And those are just people who have the power of the ‘pen’ our loyal GOP volunteers will not stand for a half-baked Republican Governor allowing his Democrat wife and her abortion agenda pals to run our state.
> A humorous stab at the whole thing comes out of the anonymous OC Blog where one entry suggests several other just as unlikely headlines. A couple examples:
CONGRESSMAN CUNNINGHAM SAYS IT WAS ALL FAKE, HE WAS PUNK’D BY KUTCHER
FORMER U. S. SENATOR ALAN CRANSTON APPOINTED POSTHUMOUSLY BY GOV. AS SECRETARY OF HEALTH SERVICES
One of the proposed headlines even takes a stab at me…all in good fun.
> I do not think the Governor will think the backlash is funny though. I hope that Duf Sundheim our fearless CA GOP leader and everyone else in leadership of our party is on the phone to one of the few Republicans left in the Admin. to voice their strong opinions.
I am not usually the rabble-rouser, who am I kidding, yes I am. I would support the idea of pulling the CA GOP re-election endorsement from the Governor. If he wasn’t on the governor’s campaign payroll Steve Frank would have already drafted the resolution (how about it Steve?) and Jimmy Camp (also on the payroll) should run the issue at the next convention.
