PACIFIC LEGAL FOUNDATION VICTORY
Congratulations to attorney Harold Johnson and the other friends of the FR at the Pacific Legal Foundation. Yesterday a judge ruled in their favor in a lawsuit filed to stop the State of California from, in essence, borrowing $550,000(ish) by deferring required pension payment obligations. The judge ruled this borrowing unconstitutional do to a very strict cap in the State Constutition on how much the state can borrow without approval from the electorate. It’s GREAT that we have an orgaization like PLF out there looking out for the rights and packetbooks of taxpayers! MEATHEAD’S LATEST SOCIALISTIC PLAN
Hollywood extreme liberal Rob Reiner is at it again, with his latest plan to redistribute wealth through a government scheme. Reiner yesterday held a media event (complete with kids as props) to announce that his paid signature-gathering efforts had resulted in enough signatures to place his measure to create a universal pre-school program for all California children on the ballot. This new entitlement would be paid for with (shock) a tax-increase on very wealthy Californians (read: a tax on employers). FLORIDA CONGRESSMAN TOM FEENEY – AMERICAN PATRIOT
Sophmore Congressman Tom Feeney is my favorite member of Congress (with nods to a lot of close runners-up. My commentary from yesterday tells you why, if you missed it (I posted it late).
GOVERNOR: IT’S TIME TO GET THE REST OF THE TEAM ON THE FIELD
Governor Schwarzenegger can be a great quarterback of an entire team of very capable Republican State Legislators, if he would just bring them out onto the field. He has been playing a game of legislative football where these legislators are on the bench, and he is the only GOP player on the field. How does he do this? It’s simple — announce to all that he will veto any legislation that reaches his desk that does not have the votes of at least a majority of GOPers in each house. Immediately, with such a rule in place, all of the Republican State Senator and Assemblymen get to engage on the field, and really add a superb dynamic to the legislative process.
