Ok…Fleischman puts out this little report card on who has been blogging and who hasn’t …kinda like Santa’s list …who has been naughty and who has been nice…so here goes….
Tom Ross posted about one of the hottest political battles has been the competition between Irrigation Districts and PG&E or entities like my utility provider…SMUD (Sacramento Municipal Utility District) and PG&E….SMUD wants utility users in Yolo to substitute SMUD for PG&E…….
The practice is known as “cherry picking” and it’s where a power provider makes a decision to move to challenge PG& E for new residential and existing large corporate users – factories…packing plants..etc.
SMUD currently does not serve Yolo County but they made a decision some months ago to attempt to annex portions of Yolo…they lined up support from a large coalition of elected officials and business owners….and since SMUD is a quai governmental entity, PG& E figured that out and put petitions on the street to force just such an election.
Unfortunately, as I reported at the Flashreport Live Blog at the goofy convention…PG&E’s petition was designed to force idiots like me (those in SMUD’s area) to vote on whether or not our utility could annex subscribers in Yolo….the logic goes that PG&E will tell me that my utility bill will be higher…that my service will suffer..that’s I’ll eventually grow hair….you get the picture…pure scare tactics…..but a sad thing happened on the way the election…..the Sacramento county clerk said that there was evidence of …………egast…..fraud.
I doubt there was a conspiracy here…afterall Black Helicopters do not exist damn it….but the science of signature gathering is pretty in exact…so I doubt fraud…but instead of a random check….the clerk will order a full check…and guess who foots that bill?…my friend SMUD…..
So…this story is far from over…and the money is just starting to flow.
